HemCon, Inc. Introduces Dental Dressing For Tooth Extractions

PORTLAND, Ore.--HemCon, Inc. is proud to announce the introduction of its latest dressing which is designed to be used by oral surgeons and dentists following tooth extractions and other oral procedures. This dressing uses the same materials and technology as HemCon's other dressings which are used by the military and emergency medicine professionals to control severe bleeding.

"The dental market represents a significant opportunity for HemCon," stated HemCon, Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer, John W. Morgan. "With over 40 million extractions performed annually in the United States and many other procedures that involve bleeding, we are confident that HemCon's technology will advance the current standard of care in the industry."

The HemCon(R) Dental Dressing measures 10mm x 12mm and, when placed in an extraction socket, adheres to the surrounding tissue, protecting it and providing pain relief. The bandage is designed to dissolve within seven days.

"The HemCon(R) Dental Dressing was very impressive during our testing," said Dr. Jay Malmquist, lead clinical investigator and current president of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. "The dressing provided protection of the wound site and stopped bleeding in well under a minute in most cases, compared to about 15 minutes with gauze. The HemCon(R) Dental Dressing also performed very well on patients who were on bloodthinners, who normally bleed for longer times."

The HemCon(R) Dental Dressing is expected to be available in September of 2006 and will be sold through a variety of domestic and international distributors. Read more at businesswire.com
